Asus Mobile launched the most powerful smartphone ever and it is based for Gamers, the Asus ROG Phone 2 is a big one, especially with the specifications packed on it, Let go around the Asus Rog Phone 2 review and let’s see what Asus Packed into this smartphone.
Last year Asus released the first series of the ROG phone and that smartphone was more than what we expected as Asus is tech-giant in making rugged devices including laptops not just smartphones.
Quick Gist About First Asus ROG Phone
The first ROG Phone was made to take the gaming experience of gamers to a whole new level. The smartphones use a Snapdragon 845 Soc and the company added a feature to the phone called GameCool that transfer away all the heat on the Chipset and if you want you can turn in X-Mode to kill all your background apps and increase performance.
This features definitely gave Great Gaming experience and on the ROG Phone, we have a 6-inch display at 1080X2160 resolution. It has 8-gigabytes RAM with a 128/512 GB ROM Variants and runs on Android 8.0 Pie.
With the Qualcomm snapdragon 845, Fluid experience or should I say gaming experience can be guaranteed because of SDM 845 gat an Octa-core processor at 2.96GHz speed rate which is amazing.
That the ROG Phone is for gaming doesn’t mean we can’t have a camera module on that device what if we want to take pictures of our good mood after winning a game? lol. Anyways, It has a dual camera of 12-megapixels and 8-megapixel and the selfie module have an 8-Megapixels.
With all Of these features, you definitely can tell that this device was well equipped for a great gaming experience. So lets’ dive into the Asus ROG Phone 2 review and let’s see the greatness on this machine.
Asus ROG Phone 2 Review
I have decided to go with the display first in my Asus ROG Phone 2 review because there some new features Asus endowed to the display on this device. Okay, what is special about the display of this device?
Am sure you have seen a 60Hertz Refresh rate on a smartphone and that is the OnePlus 7 Pro released earlier before the ROG Phone 2. I think Asus felt like they can beat that and they put a 120Hertz Refresh rate on the ROG Phone 2 so no matter how heavy and graphics demanding your game or apps might be it will handle it fluently.
Asus had even teamed up with game developers to have unique collections of accessories. On the ROG Phone 2, You can switch between two User interface. One the device you have a User Interface like on the Zenphone 6 and Asus ROG-Game interface.

The display on this device is a 6.59 AMOLED with a resolution of 1080X2340 and the aspect ratio is 19.5:9 and the pixel density is 391PPI with 108% DCI-P3 color gamut and 10-bit HDR for the display And uses the newest Gorilla Glass 6.
This display is such an amazing one and it definitely would handle any game of heavy app any Android user could have wanted to use.
The Performance On Asus Rog Phone 2
Performance rate and the efficiency is the next thing in line for this Asus ROG Phone 2 review as it is the first smartphone ever to have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ Chipset, this is just the fun part because Snapdragon was just announced.
Quick Pick on Qualcomm Snapdragon 885+
Snapdragon 855 Plus was built solely for a great gaming experience with cutting edge performance, improved graphics performance, CPU uplifted to perform 15% more than the Snapdragon 855. 4G and 5G Network Connectivity
With this Chipset that means the ROG Phone, 2 is the most powerful smartphone in the world when it comes to the Chipset aspect on any smartphone, Well I think Samsung Note 10 series should come equipped with that chipset too.
The Asus ROG Phone 2 powered with snapdragon 855 plus makes it up to Adreno 645 GPU 675-MegaHertz and makes it have a 15% increased in performance compared to SDM 855 and the CPU performance also get increased in 4-percentage.
You can have the ROG Phone II with up to 512GB of storage and it’s UFS3.0 – Asus says that allows it to achieve 15% faster load times in games than the UFS2.1-equipped Galaxy S10+.
The truth here is that there aren’t many games out there to benefit from the capabilities of this device because, even the most popular game with the highest refresh rate of 60Hz PUBG, hasn’t utilized the 120Hz refresh rate installed on ROG Phone 2.
This device is really a killer like everyone has been saying because it is a great machine.
Asus has focused a lot on the thermal management system of the ROG Phone 2 which includes a vapor cooling chamber, heat dissipation plate, and vents.
We can talk all day about the Asus ROG Phone 2 review but we dare not talk about the Operating System. On the ROG Phone 2, it runs on Android 9.0 and with ROG UI as the main UI but you can switch that to ROG game UI.
The battery on the ROG 2 is another great selling point you will definitely consider if you choose to go for this Machine. A 6000mAh battery with snapdragon 855+ with AMOLED display, that means you’d get long battery life.
The phone can charge up to 4,000mAh in 58 minutes, and Asus claims that it can run PUBG Mobile for 7.1 hours at 60fps. That is another great selling point on the Asus ROG 2
Asus ROG Phone 2 Review – Camera
What about camera modules on the ROG 2 phone? That is the next section on the Asus ROG Phone 2 review. Earlier, I talked about the ROG Phone 1 having Dual camera, that is what we have on the ROG 2.
A 48-Megapixel which makes use of Sony IMX586 sensor and another 13-Megapixel secondary camera for ultra-wide photography with a 125 angle view. And on the front, there is a 24MP camera. The camera setup is the same that we have on Asus 6Z.
Accessories Section
To enhance the users gaming experience with this Killer machine, Asus added some complementing accessories to this smartphone. The first one is the new AeroActive Cooler II which is four times quieter than the earlier version and cools the chassis temperature by up to 5-degrees.
The next accessory is the ROG Lighting Armour Case which has an embedded NFC chip that brings new and exclusive themes and wallpapers to the ROG Phone 2. Things are really getting a lot interesting with this device.
Another accessory is the TwinView Dock 2 which has the same display as on the ROG Phone 2 and has a 5000mAh battery and a Turbo Fan for cooling. You can attach the phone to the dock and utilize both screens simultaneously.
There is also a gamepad called the ROG Kunai and it has a set of 21 keys and can also be connected to a PC. Asus also provides a Mobile – Desktop Dock and a Pro Dock to take the gaming experience to a bigger screen.
