Let’s talk about the meaning of Apple icons. Most iPhone users tend to have problems with understanding the Apple icons however in this post we will explain the meaning of Apple icons.

Ever since I do see a lot of icons on iPhone devices and most time it is always so hard to tell what those icons are meant for and what they do on iPhone devices.

So, I took the time to do some digging and I decided to go after the learning of what all of these iPhone icons really meant.

It was so interesting to the extent all of these icons meant something very simple and something that is very well known just that we don’t put mind to all of them.

All of the iPhone icons which you will be seeing are definitely all of the status icons that appear on your apple iPhone devices and you must have seen most of it if you are an iPhone user.

The icons are all of the icons that appear on both IOS 12 and also IOS 13. So if you use any of these OS am very sure you would have seen them.

So Let Get Started.

 

Cell signal  The number of bars indicates the signal strength of your cellular service. If there’s no signal, “No Service” appears.

Dual cell signals  On models with Dual SIM, the upper row of bars indicates the signal strength of the line you use for cellular data. The lower row of bars indicates the signal strength of your other line.

If there’s no signal, “No Service” appears. To see the status icons with their corresponding cellular plan labels and carrier names, open Control Center.

Airplane mode  Airplane mode is on—you can’t make phone calls, and other wireless functions may be disabled. This iPhone icon is what you see when you turn on settings for travel.

LTE  Your carrier’s LTE network is available, and iPhone can connect to the Internet over that network (not available in all regions). You can change the cellular settings on iPhone.

5G E  Your carrier’s 5G E network is available, and iPhone can connect to the Internet over that network (supported on iPhone 8 and later; not available in all regions). You can change cellular settings on iPhone.

UMTS  Your carrier’s 4G UMTS (GSM) or LTE network (depending on the carrier) is available, and iPhone can connect to the Internet over that network (not available in all regions).

 

UMTS/EV-DO  Your carrier’s 3G UMTS (GSM) or EV-DO (CDMA) network is available, and iPhone can connect to the Internet over that network. See View or change cellular settings on iPhone.

 

EDGE  Your carrier’s EDGE (GSM) network is available, and iPhone can connect to the Internet over that network. This icon that shows on your iPhone is very easy to understand as its meaning appears already.

GPRS/1xRTT  Your carrier’s GPRS (GSM) or 1xRTT (CDMA) network is available, and iPhone can connect to the Internet over that network. The icon that will barely appear on your phone lol.

Wi-Fi call iPhone is set up for Wi-Fi calling. iPhone also displays a carrier name next to the icon.

 

You will see this iPhone icon only when Wi-Fi iPhone is connected to the Internet over a Wi-Fi network.

 

Personal Hotspot iPhone is providing a Personal Hotspot for another device. For you to  Share your iPhone Internet connection.

Syncing iPhone is syncing with iTunes. See Sync iPhone using iTunes on your computer.

 

Network activity  Shows that there’s network activity. Some third-party apps may also use it to show an active process.

 

Call Forwarding  Call Forwarding is set up. See Set up call forwarding or call waiting (GSM).

 

VPN  You’re connected to a network using a VPN. VPN APPs like NordVPN and more like that can help with that.

 

TTY  Software RTT / TTY or Hardware TTY is turned on. See Set up and use TTY or RTT on iPhone.

 

Lock iPhone is locked. See Access features from the iPhone Lock screen.

Do Not Disturb is turned on. To Set Do Not Disturb on the iPhone means that your phone will be free from all of any notification that might want to come in to your phone.

 

This is Portrait orientation lock icon which means the iPhone screen is locked in portrait orientation. Which you can changed lock the screen orientation on the iPhone.

 

Location Services  An item is using Location Services. This is so cool and great because you can Set which apps know your location on iPhone.

 

Alarm  An alarm is set. This is what you use see when you Set an alarm or bedtime schedule on iPhone.

Headphones connected iPhone is paired with Bluetooth headphones that are turned on and within Bluetooth range.

 

Bluetooth battery  Shows the battery level of a paired Bluetooth device.

Well, everyone would know the meaning of this iphone icon which is the Battery charging level.

 

Battery  Shows the iPhone battery level. When the icon is yellow, Low Power Mode is on. See Charge and monitor the iPhone battery.
