It finally seems we are near the time when Apple will present the new Mac Pro with an ARM processor. The device could arrive before the summer.
Currently, Apple offers MacBook Air M1 (which is one of the best laptops for university students) or MacBook Air M2, MacBook Pro 14, and Pro 16 as well as iMac, Mac Mini, and Mac Studio with the new Apple Silicon processors.
The flagship model of the range, the Mac Pro, is missing. However, soon the top of the range of Apple’s Mac series should finally arrive on the market with a new Apple Silicon processor on board.
In particular, during the first months of the year, Apple should present the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 with the new M2 processors. On these models, the M2 Pro and the M2 Ultra should arrive. The latter is undoubtedly the top model that we will probably also see on Mac Studio.
The M2 Ultra itself is expected to become the beating heart of the new Mac Pro. Compared to the Mac Studio, the device will allow easy expansion of GPUs and SSDs as this already happens on the current model. However, Apple will have to clarify which GPU cards will be compatible with the device. It’s really hard to speculate that older GPUs will somehow become compatible with Apple’s processors.
Mac Pro ARM, unlike the current model, will not allow you to expand the system’s RAM. The design of the device cannot change.
Apple has already been testing this powerful Mac for some time, a sign that the launch is really approaching. In the spring, the Cupertino company will release the update to macOS 13.3. In conjunction with this release, Apple could announce the new MacBook Pro as well as the Mac Pro. Probably, these are announcements that will deserve a dedicated event. It is therefore to be expected that between the end of March and May, Apple decides to announce a keynote precisely to reveal these products to the public.
The price is not yet known, but it is expected that it will follow the current Mac Pro price list.
