Tecno Hipods H2 Review – Another Angle At It

Tecno is a big brand in Nigeria and they bring out various smartphones and accessories and today I’m presenting you the Tecno hipods h2 review. the Tecno hipods H2 has been available in the market for a couple of months now and it can be one of the best budgets true wireless earbuds to buy in Nigeria.

I’m going to talk about the things I like and the things I don’t like. This is going to be an honest review of the Tecno hipods H2. Tecno is a household name in the Nigerian Smartphone market This is their first attempt at bringing out a truly wireless earbud that will compete with the Oraimo free pods and the Infinix irocker that I’ve tested.

tecno h2 hipods

there is no real competition in Nigeria when it comes to making these wireless earbuds but I think heading into 2021 a lot of wireless earbuds will be released. Tho we covered this device in one of our previous articles but this is another angle at it. Without taking the time into the review

Tecno Hipods H2 Review: Should You Buy?

Specification And Features

Spec-wise it has Bluetooth 5.0, but you can’t use the buds separately, the charging case has 300 milliamperes while the earbuds have 45 milliamperes you get up to 5 hrs of listening time on the buds. And it takes roughly 1 and a half hours to charge the buds in the case if you combine the buds and the case together you will get 23 hours of playtime. Charging the case takes up to 2hrs and it can be a strain its best to charge at night. There is no noise cancellation or IP ratings on this one.

Sound Quality Tecno Hipods H2 Review

First I’m going to talk about sound quality because that is the most important aspect of any earbuds with the Tecno hipods H2 you get a balanced listening experience nothing is overdone every sound component settles at the middle. Now, this could be better with more bass. But of course, there are people out there who don’t like too much bass. You get to hear the vocals clearly as they are separated from the instrumental.

I like the sound I got on these especially when it comes in at just 8500 naira or 22 dollars. The sound quality is almost at the same level as the tronsmart onyx neo that I tested earlier but the design is what makes me stick to the onyx neo as my daily driver. There are occasional lags between the sound across the buds it has happened with mine a number of times but it only lasts for a few seconds and everything gets back to normal. As far as calls I’ve used them to make calls and people can hear me loud and clear I also get to listen to people clearly.

Design Tecno Hipods H2 Review

Talking about the design it comes in this matte black square case with rounded edges. the case looks bulky in the eyes but I tell you it’s lightweight, easy to carry, and comfortable in the hand. It has some Tecno branding at the top and the micro USB charging port is on the right side of the case.

At the front, we have the LED indicator that I’m not happy about because it looks like a glow and it doesn’t change colors to tell you if it’s full or low. You get the white glow regardless of the condition of the buds or when charging the case. The lid is firm and it stands on its own and won’t fall easily. If you open the lid you get some certifications as well as the left and right sign indicating where to slot each pair of the buds. The buds have a design that looks like the Samsung galaxy buds.

I must admit that it’s bulky and this is one of the things I don’t like about the Tecno hipods h2 it has this tiny blue light that indicates when it’s charging or in pairing mode. Let me know what you think about the design in the comment section below

Fits and Touch Controls

Regardless of how it looks, it sits pretty well in the ear, and even if you go for 5hrs straight, you won’t experience any strain in the ears. You can walk with it and even do some light running as long as you have the right ear tips. there are some controls you can do with the earbuds and even though it’s touch-sensitive I still like them because you don’t get those accidental touches you get with other earbuds.

You tap once on the right earbud to increase volume tap the left side once to decrease volume. Double-tap quickly to play or pause music. Tap the right buds three times to go to the next song and three times on the left to go to the previous song.  Touch and hold to call up Google assistant. There is a second of latency when using the touch controls

Connectivity

The moment you bring them out of the case they automatically go into pairing mode. If your phone’s Bluetooth is on you will see the name Tecno hipods h2 and you tap on it to connect. like I said earlier you can’t connect a single ear which is a bummer because even earbuds below this price normally have this feature.

You can stay 10 meters away from your phone and it will work without any delay or latency. You get a special smart pop-up when you connect it to a Tecno mobile phone this will make the connection much easier but there are certain Tecno phones that have access to this feature like the Tecno Camon 16 Premier.

Final Verdict

The Tecno hipods h2 is a decent wireless earbud that keeps everything balanced. Call quality is great and better than some of the wireless earbuds I’ve tried in the past. Design might not be appealing to many people but I hope they go with a design smaller in the next edition. if you like the design let me know in the comment section below.
