Could MacBook Touchscreen Really Arrive In 2025?

It seemed impossible, but some rumors speak of the possibility of a MacBook Touchscreen arriving on the market. Truth or speculation?

Apple offers a very complete lineup of MacBooks, for all budgets and is very balanced. In particular, the current proposals consist of the MacBook Air M1 and MacBook Air M2, MacBook Pro 14, and Pro 16.

In the past, some journalists interviewed Craig Federighi, senior vice president of Apple’s software engineering department on the subject of MacBook with touch display. On that occasion, the executive explained that the company had begun to test some MacBook prototypes with a touchscreen on board, but that the tests had brought to light some critical issues that had therefore rejected the project. Steve Jobs himself explained, over twelve years ago, that touch surfaces had to be horizontal to work properly, effectively opposing the nascent movement of touchscreen laptops.

Mark Gurman, a well-known leaker in the world of the bitten apple, is certain that Apple has actually returned to work on the MacBook Touchscreen project by hiring engineers and a highly specialized workforce. According to his words, the device could be ready to be launched as early as 2025. This change of pace could in some way also facilitate the incessant requests from enthusiasts and commentators regarding important innovations for the iPad line.

Over time, the company has launched Apple Silicon processors which are gaining acclaim among the users of these products. The Apple Silicons also equip some more performing iPad models which, compared to the past, offer a really important computing power

Many argue that the iPad line needs software to revamp. For years, users have been asking Apple to implement innovations for developers as well as in the graphical interface. All of this has been amplified by the introduction of accessories such as the Magic Keyboard and the consequent pointer support.

Apple is unlikely to bring the iPad line closer to macOS or an alleged MacBook Touchscreen, but it cannot be excluded that as a result of these tests data and possibilities will emerge that could also facilitate the development of iPadOS.

Over the months, denials or confirmations of this first rumor will surely arrive.
