Huawei, which is a Chinese smartphone company could soon return to the market with a new Mate X series smartphone (Foldable Smartphone).
The last few years have certainly not been easy for Huawei, which has found itself from being one of the most active companies in the mobile field (with first-class sales numbers) to being relegated to a simple appearance. However, she has never given up and after announcing the Mate 50 Pro a few months ago, it seems the company is also working on a new smartphone from the Mate X series.
In particular, according to the new Taiwan Economic Times report, the Chinese giant is working on a new high-end folding device and should start mass production as early as March this year.
The report also adds that Huawei aims to ship around one million Mate X-series devices in 2023 or about double the number of shipments it achieved over the course of last year. One of the peculiarities of this new folding device would concern its thickness. From what emerges, it seems that the Chinese company has succeeded in a real engineering miracle, making it as thick as an Apple iPhone. If we think about the fact that, when folded, devices like Samsung’s Z Fold 4 or Huawei’s previous Mate Xs 2 have a thickness of about 15 millimeters and 11 millimeters respectively, the result obtained could be truly incredible.
At the moment we have no further information on the device, so we do not know what the technical specifications will be. Clearly, we are expecting a very high-end and correspondingly quite expensive smartphone, in line with the price of the previous models in the series. The official announcement should take place around the first half of the year and, more specifically, at the beginning of the second quarter. Finally, it seems that Huawei may also launch a new model of the Pocket series during the second half of the year. It will be interesting to see how the brand holds up, in terms of volumes, with respect to the tightening of the US ban. We’ll see.
