Design Aspect
Design is what you will come in contact with first once you pick up any phone. If I am to conclude straight up then I will say that the Galaxy a52 looks better than the Camon 17 Pro but let’s dig deeper. Both phones are made of glass and plastic which is normal considering their selling price. The Samsung galaxy A52 has an exceptional look it is unique and the finish at the back is smooth good looking. We have an awesome quad-camera cut out here as well which is great.
the Tecno Camon 17 pro has a gradient finish that reacts when it is hit by the light however it is still a decent-looking phone. It has a quad-camera set up at the back and this is one of the differences we will explore later on. The Samsung Galaxy has an optical in-display fingerprint scanner while the Tecno Camon 17 Pro has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner both of them are fast. On the Samsung galaxy a52, we have gorilla glass 5 protection on the front and back but Tecno didn’t specify the type of protection on their phone.
They both feature a USB type C charging port but the Camon 17 pro has a dual speaker while the Galaxy A52 has a stereo speaker. The volume rocker is placed on the right side of both phones while the sim card and SD cardholder are on the left. They both have a centered hole-punch camera with a reasonable chin at the top and bottom.

Display Aspect – Tecno Camon 17 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy A52
Should we just hand over the win here to Samsung and just go home? As everyone knows no brand can challenge Samsung when it comes to displays on a smartphone. But in this case, the phones in question share certain similarities which include a 90Hz refresh rate and a Full HD plus resolution.
The Samsung galaxy A52 has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with an 84.1 percent screen-to-body ratio and this is reasonable for me. On the other hand, the Camon 17 Pro comes in at 6.8 inches while rocking an IPS LCD panel. Screen to body ratio on the Camon 17 Pro is 84.4 percent.
Under direct sunlight, the AMOLED display will always look better because of its color accuracy. The IPS display is also decent but you need to crank up the brightness under direct sunlight. There is a 90Hz refresh rate feature on both phones and it makes scrolling smooth and we have to appreciate the high refresh rate on both phones.
Streaming content on both phones is capped at 1080p but with YouTube these days you can stream even higher. It would be more enjoyable though on the Samsung Galaxy A52. In this aspect, the Galaxy A52 will comfortably take the day even if you hand both devices to someone that doesn’t know much about phones.
Software and Performance
Software
Another interesting aspect that could be a deal-breaker for some people. Software is half of the story for every smartphone. Both devices are running on android 11 with their own custom skins of android. The Samsung Galaxy A52 is running on the OneUI 3.1 and you are guaranteed 3 years of software and security updates. You should be able to receive an Android 14 update if you keep the Galaxy A52 for three years. The Camon 17 pro runs HiOs 7.6 however it is not guaranteed any software update which is a bummer and brings down the value of the phone.
You are going to get regular security updates from Tecno. I really want to see Tecno work upon giving us at least two years of Android updates. I know it won’t be difficult to ask for that. The OneUI is much cleaner and you won’t get any aggressive adverts as you get with the HiOs. You get a fair share of installed apps on both phones but they are way less on the Samsung.
The animation and graphics on the A32 look better. comparing the high refresh rate on both phones makes it feel as if the 90Hz on the Camon 17 Pro is a gimmick. We are giving this aspect to Samsung because of guaranteed software updates and less intrusive ads.
Performance Aspect – Tecno Camon 17 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy A32
This one aspect that Tecno is seriously trading blows with Samsung even though the Galaxy A32 is powered by the Snapdragon 720G. we have the MediaTek Helio G95 powering the Camon 17 pro and I must tell you that it is a capable mid-range chipset that can go head to head with the Snapdragon 720G.
both phones have an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 618 is powering the Galaxy A32 while the Mali-G76 M4 is powering the Tecno Camon 17 Pro. Gaming on both phones will be solid and the 90Hz refresh rate will even make gaming enjoyable.
The Tecno Camon 17 pro comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage that’s the first of its kind from Tecno. Samsung Galaxy A32 on the other hand comes with either 4,6,8 GB RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. Performance is going to be a tie for me and I’m comfortable with the Helio G95 on the Camon.
Camera Aspect Comparison
Both phones have a quad-camera setup with a primary 64MP camera. The Samsung has an additional 12MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. On the Camon 17 Pro, we have an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP monochrome lens. In this aspect, Samsung has better software that processes the images so Samsung will take the day for me.
Tecno is tagging their Camon 17 Pro as the clearest selfie ever because of the 48MP front-facing camera it has. The Galaxy A52 has a 32MP selfie camera which is great as well. With camera numbers tell only half of the storage software also plays important role in the final image processing. Samsung’s software does a great job with final image processing.
Battery Aspect – Tecno Camon 17 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy A52
Now the Tecno Camon 17 pro comes with a 5000mAh battery while the Samsung Galaxy A52 has a 4500mAh battery. They both feature 25W fast charging which is quite decent. The Tecno Camon 17 pro is undoubtedly ahead of Samsung.
Both phones will last for a whole day when fully charged. The extra 500mAh on the Camon 17 pro makes it the champ in this aspect.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the extra pennies you will pay for the Galaxy A52Â worth it if you want a more durable phone. The device has a better long-time value ahead of the Camon 17 Pro. The AMOLED panel makes it even more worthy for the extra bucks.
