Samsung Galaxy S20 Vs Samsung Galaxy S10: Hold On to Your Galaxy S10

It’s only right if we take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S20 vs Samsung Galaxy S10 both phones are flagships from Samsung mobile.

We expected this year’s flagship to be named S11 but the manufactures opted for S20 so as to name it according to the year 2020. The Samsung Galaxy S20 is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy S10 in this article we will put them together to see the upgrades and similarities between both phones.

The Samsung Galaxy s10 still packs all the amazing features that stand out in 2020 but the Samsung Galaxy S20 is an inch ahead in terms of specification. For you to understand this post better we will break down to phone into various categories so that the article will be easy to digest and understand.

Design Comparison

Both smartphones have a glass at the front and back which is solid. They both come with an aluminum design with Gorilla Glass 6 protection however; the Samsung Galaxy S10 has Gorilla glass 5 protection at the back.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 weighs about 163 g while the Galaxy S10 weighs 157 g. both phones have a triple camera setup at the back with the S20 having a Horizontal Bump that houses the cameras similar to the iPhone 11 Pro.

The S10, on the other hand, has a vertical setup we will review the cameras in a bit. So the S20 actually rocks a trendy look but the S10 is still premium in terms of design.

Display Comparison

In this Aspect, the S20 has a screen size of 6.2 inches with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen while the S10 has a screen size of 6.1 inches with a Dynamic AMOLED display.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 has a minimal bezel and screen to body ratio is 89.5% while screen to body ratio is 88.3% on the Galaxy S10. Both phones have a resolution of 1440p.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 has a high refresh rate of 120Hz which automatically puts the display ahead of the S10 however; the 120Hz refresh rate is trapped at 1080p only. This 120Hz refresh rate simply translates the animations on the screen twice as fast as the 60Hz on the Galaxy S10.

Both phones have infinity O displays but the S10 has its camera aligned on the top right-hand side of the screen while that of the S20 is aligned in the top center and it is much smaller.

There isn’t much curve on the screen of the new S20 the first time we are seeing that since the Galaxy S8. Both phones have the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor but I’m betting my money on the S20 to be faster.

Performance Comparison

Both devices run on android 10 with Samsung Galaxy S10 receiving the update earlier this year while the S20 runs on Android 10 outside the box.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 uses the Exynos 990 CPU or the SnapDragon 865 however; in Nigeria, we will be getting the Exynos 990 model. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S10 has the snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9820 which is slightly below the 865 and Exynos 990 in terms of performance.

The Snapdragon 865 scored 3460 on benchmarks while the A13 Bionic Chip has 3517 on benchmarks this highlights the differences. Samsung Galaxy S20 has 12GB of UFS 3.0 Ram and The Galaxy S10 ships with 8GB or 12GB of UFS 2.1 Ram.

So, comparing the Samsung s20 vs s10, the performance will be much better on the S20 Variant because of the high refresh rate and the chipset.

The new Samsung Galaxy S20 would outperform iPhone’s for the first time in a long while. In terms of storage, the S20 has 128GB storage while the S10 has both the 128GB model as well as a 512GB model.

Camera Comparison

This is another great segment to look out for. The S10 came with two 12MP cameras and a 16MP ultra-wide lens, the S20 also has 3 cameras but it has two 12MP cameras and a 64MP telephoto module that supports up to 3x optical zoom.

There won’t be much difference in performance as the cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S10 are still dated.

The 3x optical zoom on the Samsung Galaxy S20 is what will set both camera software apart. The S20 shoots 4k videos @24fps while the S10 shoots 2k @60fps both phones have a super steady feature. They both have a 10MP front-facing camera with the same features

Battery Comparison

Comparing the Samsung s20 vs s10 in the battery aspect, the Samsung Galaxy S20 has some 4100mAh battery capacity while its predecessor has a 3400mAh battery. That might look like a worthy upgrade but with the 120Hz refresh rate we know it might look small.

None the less you can expect a decent amount of battery life from both devices. The S20 supports 25W fast charging and 15W reverse wireless charging it also supports 9W reverse wireless charging.

On the Other hand, the S10 supports 15W fast charging and 15W reverse wireless charging it also supports 9W reverse wireless charging.

Is it Worth It Switching to The Samsung Galaxy S10 from The Samsung Galaxy S20?

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is a flagship and it’s great to hold on to it until the next generation Samsung Galaxy in 2021.

There are no much differences between the two. The S10 is still a great performer as it will handle any kind of task. Another issue is the price tag on the S20 is another major issue why you hang on to the S10.

The higher refresh rate on the S20 shouldn’t be the reason you want to leave the S10 unless you are a gamer. The camera is the same on both phones an unless for the 3x optical zoom on the S20.

Overall the Samsung Galaxy S10 is just a year old android 10 upgrades have been rolled out on the device already and it runs smoothly.
