What Is the NIN Number?
The NIN number is also called the National Identification Number. It is a unique number assigned to an individual upon successful enrolment and during enrollment data such as demographics, occupation, state, and more are collected. The National Identification Number (NIN) consists of 11 non-intelligible numbers randomly chosen and assigned to an individual after enrolment into the National Identity Database (NIDB)

How To Check Your NIN Number?
Dial *346# to check/retrieve your NIN number on your MTN, GLO, Airtel and 9mobile(Etisalat) line on your mobile device in Nigeria.
How To Link your NIN to your MTN Number 2024 – 2025
To link the NIN number to your MTN line dial the shortcode (*996#). It is created for MTN users by MTN Network. The *966# created by the NCC for all networks is by far the best and easiest way to connect your NIN to your MTN line.
Linking NIN To MTN Number Through MTN Website
To Connect your NIN to Your MTN phone number using the MTN online website:
- Visit MTN online NIN portal
- Fill in your First Name, Last Name, Middle Name (optional), Phone Number, NIN, and Email Number.
- Then “submit”.
One of the best features of the MTN online NIN portal is that you can also check your NIN verification status on the website to be sure if you have linked your NIN or if it will need to be done again.
Linking Your NIN to MTN line Through Mobile Short Code
To link your NIN to your MTN Number using the USSD Code:
- Dial *996#, and wait for the window prompt stating to input your 11-digit National Identification Number.
- Input the 11-digit National Identification Number Then send. A window will pop up stating “your NIN has been successfully received”.
if you get an error, just wait for some time and try again with the link.
How To Link your NIN to your Glo Number 2024
To link your National Identification Number (NIN) to your Glo number all you need to dial the official NIN Link code *996# to connect your NIN to your Glo Number.

- Follow the prompt on the screen to get your VNIN and
- Dial the code again to Link your Glo line to your VNIN and it will register your NIN
- You should press the USSD again to check your registration status.
How To Link your NIN to your Airtel Number
Airtel Nigeria has made it easy to connect NIN to your Airtel mobile Line. Follow the prompt on your mobile device to link the NIN number. Follow these steps on your Airtel number:
- Visit the online Airtel NIN portal – https://www.airtel.com.ng/nin
- Input your mobile number on the page
- Receive the OTP and then input the OTP on the website and follow the instructions
- A confirmation pop-up will appear stating you have successfully linked your mobile number.

How To Link your NIN to your 9Mobile Number 2024
To link your NIN number to your Etisalat/9Mobile number, visit the Etisalat NIN portal to fill the form to link the Identification number to your Etisalat mobile number. You can also link your NIN to your 9Mobile/Etisalat number by visiting the nearest 9Mobile outlet with your NIMC form (Or your NIN number) and your 9Mobile/Etisalat sim pack.
Or dial *200*8# to link your NIN on the 9mobile/Etisalat network.
